[ my unusual hunt for TOMS ]

IT'S NO secret - I love TOMS. They are by far the most comfortable shoes I own. And so you can imagine my disappointment when I found out that no one in Dubai carries TOMS and I can't even get them shipped here from their website!

But I wasn't going to give up.

Before we left on our cruise, I knew that we'd be stopping in a few places, so I searched online for TOMS retailers and came upon one in Barcelona.

Perfect! We'd be starting and ending our trip from Barcelona so I'd pick them up there! I jotted down the address and Google mapped it.

On our first day in Barcelona, we decided to search for the TOMS retailer who would hook me up...

Hmm.... maybe I got the address wrong...

This was turning into the most unusual search...

And there it was in this tiny alley, surrounded by no other shops of any kind... Little PACO.

It was the tiniest store I've ever seen and totally devoted to TOMS...

Despite its size, I was able to find a few pairs and my guy picked up some too. This should keep me going until the next time I'm near a TOMS retailer.

I love that for every pair you buy, they give a pair of shoes to a child in need. And that means 5 pairs of shoes are on their way.

Do you love TOMS as much as I do?

[ med cruise day 5 - barcelona ]

No. 5 ~ Barcelona, Spain

OUR CRUISE began and ended in Barcelona. We had been there before so this time it was just about wandering around, doing a bit of shopping and capturing some pics.

Barcelona is a beautiful city - filled with gorgeous architecture and narrow streets with all kinds of nooks and crannies.

lots of sidewalk cafés...

artists and artisans everywhere you look...

humans disguised as statues...

rental bikes ready to take you around...

plenty of scooters...

and interesting shops...

The buildings are incredible, whether you are into the creativity of Gaudi...

or just the intricate details all around you...

even the sidewalks and utility caps were fancy...

I was smitten by all the interesting signage...

Barcelona is definitely a city all about the details and such a lovely way to start and end our trip.
